These works are part of an on-going series that allude to notions of vulnerability and protection, loss and mortality. They explore the contradictions evident in our attitudes to the vital organs of different species: the commodification of livestock and the packaging of bovine body parts as ‘offal’ and garden fertiliser; as opposed to the precious regard accorded our own corporeal matter. Advances in modern medicine have significantly increased our life expectancy yet our bodies retain an inherent fragility. |
