Parbhu Makan studied photography at Elam between 1971 and 1977. His tutors included Tom Hutchins and John Turner.

He graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts.

Parbhu Makan held two solo shows and contributed to a group exhibition at Real Pictures. In 1987 he stopped photographing, and only started again recently in 2003.

Makan has hand printed these images, which had previously remained latent since they were taken in 1977.
