Achernar 10.February - 2.April 2006 Silverpeaks The collective title of these photographs is taken from the Silverpeaks region near Dunedin, which was the location of some of these images. In the title there is also a reference to the materials by which the photographs were recorded, and a reminder that the images are a recording of a fleeting set of conditions at a particular location distanced in time and space from the present. The pictures are further distanced from that reality by being reverse processed and then the prints ‘split-toned’ to give the highlight/shadow variation in hue. The results are intended to be contemplative rather than descriptive, being starting points for our own associations and reflections within our inner world |
